Portal Vijesti is published by the The Daily Press company publishes Daily and Portal Vijesti. The portal started operating 12 years ago as an online newspaper version. According to all available public opinion surveys, Vijesti Online is the most read and trusted portal in Montenegro. According to SimilarWeb in the period from February to April 2023 Portal Vijesti had 29,01 million visits.
Vijesti Media Group is the biggest media group in Montenegro. It operates with two companies that share the same Vijesti brand – Daily Press d.o.o. and Televizija Vijesti d.o.o. Majority owner of the entire group is United Media S.A.R.L. with 51% of ownership, while remaining 49% is shared among local founders and owners and Media Development Investment Fund, INC.
Daily Vijesti was founded by the same persons who founded the Vijesti Television and the weekly Monitor.Media Group Vijesti is also recognised for the views and opinions of one of its founders, Željko Ivanović, who regularly publishes columns that some political parties and organisations heavily criticised.

ND Vijesti is published by Daily Press doo registered in Montenegro. Daily Press doo has three shareholders: United Media S.A. R.L. (51%), Mne Media One d.o.o. (33,94%) and Media Development Investment Fund, INC (15,05%)
MNE Media One registered in Podgorica has four shareholders: Filip Ivanović (31,8%), Katarina Perović (31,8%), Stefan Mitrović (26,2%) and Marijana Bojanić (10,1%).
United Media S.A.R.L. is a subsidiary of United Group registered in the Netherlands, and has a very complex ownership structure, where reportedly Dragan Šolak controls at least 35,89%, however access to the Netherlands’ Register of Ultimate Beneficial Owners is currently unavailable.

Media Development Investment Fund
Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) is a not-for-profit investment fund for independent media in countries where access to free and independent media is under threat. The founder is Saša Vučinić, a Serbian journalist and is the co-founder of North Base Media VC, and co-founder and former CEO and Managing Director of the Media Development Loan Fund. He established B92 in Serbia, during Slobodan Milošević’s regime as a legal entity and was its first CEO.

One of the co-founders of the MNE Media One registered in Podgorica, where he holds 26.24% stake. MNE Media One holds nearly 34% shares in ND Vijesti.
Marijana Bojanić
Marijana Bojanić is the CEO of Televizija Vijesti d.o.o. and other affiliated media companies – Daily Press d.o.o. the publisher of the daily „Vijesti“ and portal „Vijesti Online“. Bojanić started her journalistic career in 1999 in the weekly Monitor, and since 2008, she has been working at TV Vijesti – first as a journalist and later on as the CEO of the media outlet. Bojanić graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy. She is the winner of several awards in relation to journalism, management and philanthropy. She is also a Vice President of the Association of Managers of Montenegro.

Mihailo Jovović is one of the founders of the media outlets in the Vijesti Media Group. Jovović has been part of the Daily Vijesti and later Portal Vijesti editorial since its establishment. Jovović, a journalist by profession, was the editor-in-chief of the Daily and Portal Vijesti from 2011 to 2018, when he became the program director of Vijesti. Since October 2023 Jovović is again the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily and Portal Vijesti. Since 2021 Jovović has also been the head of the Government’s Commission for Monitoring of Activities of Authorities Responsible for Investigations of Attacks on Journalists and Media.

The data on the media outlet was collected from the Central Registry of business entities of Montenegro, Agency for electronic media, Tax administration portal Taxis, website of the media and desk research. Audience shares are missing, since there is no credible centralized audience measuring mechanism in the country.
MOM team in Montenegro contacted the media outlet on August 18, 2023, as is the practice for Media Ownership Monitor, to invite the media owners to proactively disclose information relevant to the study.
The annual average exchange rate of the Central Bank for 2022 was used to convert EUR into USD (1,05).
