Portal Aktuelno is owned by the controversial Montenegrin businessman Zoran Ćoćo Bećirović. The Portal is published through "Ski Resort - Kolašin 1450" company, which is formally owned by two companies from Cyprus - Caldero Trading Limited and Beppler & Jacobson Limited.

Bećirović, as head of the Aktuelno portal, is mainly familiar to the public due to his friendship with the former President of the Supreme Court of Montenegro Vesna Medenica, who is currently facing organised crime charges. Bećirović’s brother Dragan was assassinated 12 years ago, and this murder has not been resolved by the Montenegrin authorities. Bećirović also came into the Montenegrin media spotlight when his bodyguard attacked a journalist, Vladimir Otašević, who wanted to document the fact that Bećirović was shopping together with Montenegrin prosecutor Miloš Šoškić.

Portal Aktuelno is often accused of leading smear campaigns against various individuals and organisations. According to SimilarWeb, in the period from February to April 2023 the website had 1,34 million visits.
